Daydreaming About....

..relaxing in a hammock on the beach.

I have to apologize for my lack of posts lately AND my lack on commenting on your posts. I feel like I am so behind on my blog reading and I miss it!

You know how someone always seems to be sick at my house? Well, Husband has been sick for a while and a couple weeks ago we found out that it's quite a bit worse than we thought. It's been doctor after doctor and test after test, but we still don't have answers yet. I try not to let my mind wander and worry, but it's getting harder as more time passes. Nothing zaps inspiration quite like this, so you can see why I just haven't had the heart to do much blogging some days.  I have really high hopes that we'll figure this out soon though and then I can get back to it.

I just wanted to say that I miss you all and your beautiful inspiration each day and hope you're having a wonderful start to your week.

Hair Knot

Do you ever have one of those just throw your hair back/make it work kinda days? I do A LOT. After seeing this version of a hair knot done for the Michael Kors Spring show, I think I've found my new favorite summer do.

Remember these yellow shoes I was lusting after? I was all ready to buy, but they are sold out. Everywhere!! So, so bummed. (If any of you know where to get them, I'd love ya for it). Anyhoo, after I saw these Rachel Roy looks and THOSE shoes, I'm switching my attention to turquoise. So here are some of the options in consideration. Opinions please girls???

Never Going Back Again

An awesome song/album in it's own right, but thanks to the Glee cover, I am re-loving this song. Can't get it out of my head!! A pretty darn good remake don't ya think?

Have a wonderful rest of the weekend.

Scrabble Anyone?

Husband and I have an anniversary coming up AND he has a birthday within days of that. Traditionally, we've gone somewhere fun to celebrate both, but this year we will have just gotten back from our trip to Hawaii.  So, I spotted these Scrabble Pictures by artist Brigitte Herrod and thought they were so awesome! Are they appropriate for an anniversary or a birthday? What do you think darlings?

P.S. Any other ideas are welcome!

I could really go for one of these...

Daydreaming about this Antipasto Panini. Buttery bread, artichoke hearts, turkey, and cheese... Yeah I could really go for one of these right now. I think this might be one of the first things I make when I can eat carbs again:) Mmmmm. Okay now off to "enjoy" my salad. For the rest of you who can eat carbs...here is the super simple recipe:

Antipasto Panini
  • butter, softened
  • Artisan bread cut into 1/2 inch slices
  • pesto
  • artichoke hearts, from a jar or can (I used the plain not marinated)
  • roasted red pepper, cut into strips
  • deli sliced turkey breast
  • Sliced provolone cheese
  1. To assemble the sandwich, take two slices of bread. Put a spoonful of pesto on one slice of bread and spread around. Then top the pesto with some artichoke followed by red pepper strips, turkey and then a slice of provolone.
  2. Put sandwich together and spread the outside of both sides with butter. Place in a panini press or indoor grill like a George Forman grill.  Grill until golden.  If you don’t have a press or grill.  Cook in a frying pan – grill one side.  Then when grilling the other side place a heavy dish on top like a cast iron skillet to press the sandwich while the other side cook.

A Little Love Affair

My major love affair with maxi dresses continues. The first dress is my little Mother's Day treat from H&M that I got.  Yay! Then... I found these. For quite some time, I've been smitten with the amazing and beautiful tie-dyes that Shabd is My Name makes. I took a little visit to the online shop a couple days ago only to fall in love with these oh so pretty maxi dresses. That blue/purple one is just calling my name. Or screaming "own me".  I can't tell which...

Dears, what's your go-to outfit for this Spring/Summer?

Girl Crush: Madrid Girl

I recently ran across this lovely lady from Madrid, Spain and immediately had a crush on her. Take the first picture. Sexy librarian glasses, bright blazer, striped shirt, perfect boyfriend jeans, and THE shoes! Oh wait, did I forget her fabulous ombre hair or messy braid? Perfection from head to toe. As you can see, she has a cool sense of style all the time. If ya need me I'll be vigorously taking notes...(sigh)

So why is it that European girls are all-together more stylish than American girls? Really? What is it that we haven't figured out yet? Any thoughts?

Porn For New Moms

"Oh, she spit up. I've got a new organic stain remover I've been dying to try"

"I'll take the baby to the supermarket with me. You take a nap."

"As soon as I finish the laundry, I'll do the grocery shopping. And I'll take the kids with me so you can relax"

"I told my boss I have to leave at 3:00 every afternoon so I can come home and give you a break"

"...and in just eight more hours, we can wake up mommy!"
I ran into this book in a fun bookstore in San Diego last weekend. I sat there in the isle laughing out loud. Porn For New Moms is a hilarious little book and a must have for moms - and maybe even dads.....

Death by Spinning

The countdown for Hawaii is officially underway. In my effort to get a little more fit for my trip I decided to take a spinning class yesterday. MY FIRST EVER!  I didn't know what to expect, but heavens it was intense! I think they make it so you can barely breathe in that class. Especially since the instructor kept yelling "I wanna hear you guys suckin wind". I see why they say you burn serious calories in there. I can always tell a workout is good when I actually start saying to my self "is it over yet"? I was totally the beginner and barely able to get my bum out of the seat, but something to work towards I guess. Have any of you tried spinning? Is it normal for your bum to be sore afterwards from the seat?

Kittens, what's your hardest and most favorite workout ever?  I need to whip myself into shape fast, so tell me your secrets.

Mao's Last Dancer

I'm kind of dying to see this movie. When I was a kid, I was obsessed with the movie White Nights with Mikhail Baryshnikov and this movie looks very similar. Has anyone seen it? Is it worth a watch?

We LOVE sweet potatoes at our house and I just came across this recipe for roasted sweet potato cube skewers w/ cilantro-jalapeno aioli dip. Whoa that's a mouth-full (pun intended), but yummmmmmmm!

What are you having for dinner dears?

Mismatched Earrings

Not many people know this about me, but I have a bit of an obsession for mismatched earrings. I have a whole host of really bad neon 90's mismatched earrings that I just can't get myself to get rid of. I've noticed some celebs wearing this look on the red carpet and I'm ecstatic! What do you think dears? Would you rock this trend?

Maybe one day my neon mismatches will make a brilliant comeback. Right?
