Have a Beautiful Weekend

It has been one heck of a week this week!! We've been on spring break (thus the lack of posting), and it's been busy! I'm excited to get things back to normal and show some more TLC to my neglected blog. I have major blog clog, so I might be posting a lot next week if I can organize my thoughts. So this weekend, we are relaxing and just going with the flow.

I know the royal wedding buzz is EVERYWHERE, but how pretty was that bride? Also, she held herself together marvelously. I had my daughter on my lap while we were watching and she was soooo excited to see Kate. It was adorable!! Congrats to the happy couple.

P.S. As I said last week, I am re-vamping Friday Fav's, so hopefully by next weekend I'll have it up.

Here are the weekend links:

I heart this outfit to death

Tea with Royals

With all the royal wedding chatter, I can't help but think of the pressure that poor bride is under. Normal wedding day jitters times a million!! I have my DVR set to record so I can tune in first thing in the morning.   I'm really excited to see the dress. What are you most excited to see?

These teabags from German company Donkey Products are too funny. It makes them look like they are sitting in a hot tub. After all this wedding hoopla is over, I hope they are able to get away and relax a bit. Maybe go hot tubbing?

Handbag Envy

Since I still have to around a suitcase full of baby stuff,  I have major handbag envy for these adorable designs by Ila Handbags. Aren't they just so petite and girlie? (Sigh) One of these days...

Book Covers

These beautiful embroidered book covers were handmade by artist Jilian Tamaki as a commissioned project from Penguin Classic Books. The covers wrap around to also include the back! I think Emma is my favorite (mostly because I'm an Austen fan), but all of them are equally beautiful. Isn't the detail amazing?  I can't even imagine how long a project like this would take.

Have a Lazy Weekend

This will be me this weekend. LOL! I seriously can't believe how much sickness has gone on in my house. Enough already! Sheesh!!  Well as you can see I didn't get to my Friday Fav's post today. I didn't have the energy and I'm also working on some idea's to re-vamp it. Everything I tried to pull together was just oh so blah, so I thought it best to skip this week.  So, I might do a little posty-poo this weekend just for the fun of it. We were supposed to go visit family this weekend, but we thought it best not to share any diseases. So we are sticking close to home and having a small, but fun Easter.  What fun filled things do you have going on this weekend dears?

Have a wonderful weekend and if you're around, here are some fun/cute links to peruse.

Every Easter craft, food, fun you can think of. Seriously.

So it's official. I'm sick. Again. Today will be a movie day and my Friday Fav's will be a little late today.
I just ran across these pretty printed leggings and I am such the smitten kitten! The perfect combo of cute and comfy, which sounds wonderful to me right now. Perfect for the weekend don't ya think?

Cupcakes For Everyone

I've had these giant cupcake holders bookmarked forever because I thought they were too darn cute. Think of the possibilities with this puppy!! Sandbox, dog bed, planter, and an adorable drink holder for parties...endless.

Room Inspiration: Equestrian Chic

I've been a little under the weather this week with a sore throat, so I keep finding myself looking at beautiful bedrooms. Maybe my body is telling me I need a day in bed? I'm a sucker for equestrian chic rooms to begin with, but this one might just take the cake. There isn't a one thing I don't love about it!

Sleeping with Oscar

A little actress in the making??  This adorable little one belongs to Simon Egan, the co-producer of The Kings Speech. The article was actually about her dropping and damaging Oscar in front of a whole host of people.  Ooops! But I can't get over this picture! A lucky little one to be clutching an Oscar like it was her teddy bear, but also...how stinkin cute!

Between Us Girls

A couple weeks ago I had linked to a Glamour article about being comfortable in your own skin. This was the picture with the article. This picture and article struck such an emotional chord with me that I haven't been able to get it out of my head.

Since I was 19 I've been so self conscious about my body image. Of course having kids made it worse. We have this Hawaii trip coming up and I've been dieting and exercising like mad to be "swimsuit" ready. This Victoria's Secret model image in my head makes me feel like I have to look a certain way to be happy. It's understandable considering the barrage of perfectly photoshopped women that we face every day. So seeing this gorgeous, radiant, confidant, NORMAL woman in a magazine was inspiring to say the least.

I think the whole "loving yourself" thing is one of the hardest things us women have to learn. It's a work in progress for me and I'm not quite sure to go about it, but it's something I'm working on every day. I still want to look a certain way in a swimsuit, but now it's more along the lines of healthy and happy.

What do you see when you look at this picture?

Breakfast For Dinner

Last night I had this wonderful gourmet meal planned out. Then all of the sudden it was 5 o'clock and my delusions of a Martha Stewart type spread for dinner went out the window. So instead I rocked the breakfast for dinner.  I made chocolate chip pancakes, bacon, and eggs with bell peppers. It was so YUM!  Man did I have such a happy bunch. I forgot how good breakfast for dinner is. Darlings, what do you whip up when you're in a tight spot?

Since it's already been requested again, I'm obsessed with finding other yummy breakfasty things to make. Any suggestions?

Have a Fun Filled Weekend

Happy Friday my dears! It's going to be B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L out this weekend and I am so looking forward to spending a lot of time outdoors with my little brood. Can you tell from these last two posts what we'll be doing?? Yep it's a weekend filled with farmers markets and bike rides. Those are absolutely my favorite kinds of weekends. The only problem is they seem to end way too fast.

What are your plans darlings? Any exciting, fun, super-fantastic things happening?  I wasn't kidding when I said I live vicariously through you, so I do LOVE to hear.

Here's some links to love when you're taking a break from your fun.  Have a super-duper weekend!!

Friday Favs: Weekend Gal

This edition of Friday Fav's is all about the weekend girl. She always looks effortlessly chic even when riding around town on a bike. We've all seen those girls who just look perfect without trying (a talent I have yet to learn). That's what we're all aiming for right? If you're one of them, please share your magical secrets.

P.S. I've been on the hunt for a cute shirt dress, so I was ecstatic to find this one! Perfect for the weekend.

Rainbow Fedora / Chanel Orange Sunglasses / Steven Alan dress / Weave Basket Bag / Saddle Bike Basket / Yellow T-Bar Sandals / Mint Green Cruiser / Leather Cuff

Ombre Hair

I have been seeing posts all over the place about the Ombre hair trend that's huge now. I've had this picture of Jessica Biel saved forever because I loved her hair so much, but didn't know at the time what it was. I've been every hair color under the sun, so this is a new one for me to try out. I'm already dark brown and wanted to add some highlights in for my upcoming Hawaii trip, so kittens, I think this is just the ticket! Thoughts, feelings, curses?? Any DON'T DO IT'S?

Stay tuned for Friday's Fav's...

Work Space

(vtwonen - isn't that hanging lamp awesome!)

Right now all the rooms in our house are "community" rooms. I think that's just the way it is when you have little one's, but one day I dream of having a workspace or studio all my own. I keep a folder with all my favorite spaces so when that one day comes, I'll have tons of inspiration. No little toys scattered about, just beautiful things that I love. Ahhhhh.

Namaste

Sorry about the no post yesterday, but we had Dr. appointment's, taxes to be done, guests for dinner, and it looked like a bomb went off in my house. Oh and a migraine headache somewhere in there. Do you ever just feel like you need to take a time-out? Clear your head and try and get caught up? That was me yesterday.

Aren't these Yoga Dogs by photographer Dan Borris hilarious? They make me want to take up yoga again! Maybe that will help me find my zen place. What do you do to find your zen place dears?

Flea Market Adventures

Our flea market adventure started a little later than we wanted it to, but if we missed out on anything I sure couldn't tell. I was immediately on sensory overload. Seriously, KID IN A CANDY STORE!! There was cool things everywhere!

I really wanted to see the antiques/vintage areas, so that's where we headed. Holy Moly! They had everything you could think of. From antique typewriters, vintage suitcases (had a hard time leaving these), vintage art, trinkets and baubles as far as the eye could see.

1950's bar stools. I went nuts over these!!
My favorite parts of the trip? In the antique section they had some of the coolest and most amazing furniture I've ever seen!  They were all so unique and many of them one of a kind. I don't think I could ever buy from a regular furniture store again!! And the prices? Half what you would pay retail.
If you are a vintage clothes lover you MUST go here. There were miles and miles of vintage clothes and shoes.  I could not believe the shoes!! I was so overwhelmed in this section that I didn't do too much looking, but my inner vintage lover was begging me to go digging through every single rack to see what gem I could find.  I promised that we'd do it next time.

So what did I buy?

This vintage dresser to be used as an entry table. My original plan was to re-paint it, but it's growing on me the way it is. What do you think? To paint or not to paint?

This vintage trunk. I'm planning on doing something cool with it for the little B's room. Any suggestions all you creative geniuses?

Sorry for the length, but it was seriously one of the coolest things I've ever been to. If you are ever in the area you have to do this. You will fall in love guaranteed! I'm now planning on being a regular, so you'll get to see more of my loot as time goes on.

P.S. I did not see any celebs, but there were paparazzi, so there may have been some earlier. However, I wouldn't have noticed if Tom Cruz was staring me in the face.

Thank you Husband for being my audio-visual guy and helping me get this posted.

I Want To Be Her

Of course I am having major technical difficulties getting my flea market pictures off my camera.  What a Monday thing to happen!! So I will see if I can get it fixed in time for a post tomorrow. I may need to call in my resident AV geek (husband).
For the time being, I want to be Keri Russell in this picture. Sitting at a cafe with a drink, a book, and a croissant. Yep that's how you end a Monday dears.

A National Holiday

I just learned that April is National Grilled Cheese Month. I always thought there should be some sort of holiday for its deliciousness!
Did you know there was a Grilled Cheese Academy? And um, how do I get a job there? Check out these AMAZING looking recipe's from the Wisconsin Cheese Board. Warning: you may not want to look at these when hungry lest you be ready to run out and satisfy your grilled cheese craving.

Happy Grilled Cheese Month!

P.S. I'm putting together a post of my AWESOME flea market adventures.  Stay tuned...

Have a Fantastic Weekend

Happy weekend!! So the Rose Bowl flea market is actually this weekend. We've got babysitters, so we are so on! I am really, really excited about this. It's funny because it seems that everyone we talk to about this is planning on going too, so it must be good. I will be sure to give you a full report.  Other than that, it's a movie and Thai food tonight and hopefully catching up on a little sleep.

What wonderful, fantastic plans do you have this weekend? I sometimes live vicariously through you, so I LOVE to hear:)

Friday Favs: Maxi Dress

This weeks favs are all about the maxi dress. Whether you wear it by itself, with a linen shirt, a cardi, or a denim jacket, the maxi dress is a wardrobe staple this Spring/Summer. It's a look that works no matter what shape or size you are and there are so many ways it can be worn. So I've pulled together 3 looks to show some of the ways this look can be styled.

P.S. I'm currently lusting after some Gypsy05 maxi's, very popular with the Hollywood crowd, but such cute patterns.

Outfit 2
Bauble of pearls pendant, linen cardi, abstract maxi (on sale), wood cuff, Badgley Mischka espadrille

Perfect Spring Look

Yes to everything in this outfit featured in Anthropologie's Spring catalog! Who else wants to run out and get a yellow belt like that?

Cate Parr Watercolors

In my search for some new art, I came across these beautiful watercolors by artist Cate Parr. I can't decide which words best describe her amazing work. Words that immediately come to mind are ethereal, romantic, calming.  These would be so perfect in my all white dream studio.

Check out her etsy shop too.

Love Ring

This Love Ring by jewelry designer Natalia Gormensoro is one of the coolest rings I've ever seen!  The ring can be turned into different words like love, kiss, ever, amor, beso...etc. What would your word be?

Love this look: Sheer Skirts

The Sartorialist did a series of photos of women informally wearing these pale, sheer skirts and I'm having a hard time not running out and grabbing one for myself. It's just such an ethereal and airy look. I can think of so many ways I could and would wear this. Don't you love this woman who styled it with flats and a comfy sweater?

What do you think kiddos? Would you dare to wear?
